DF n°74, Interview with KINK GONG, December 22nd, 2008

Kink Gong, aka Laurent Jeanneau, is an ethnographer and electronic musician, who has been recording for many years the traditional ritualistic music from the ethnic groups of China, India or Vetnam among other countries of the Orient. He mixes electroacoustic composition techniques with these very tribal and unique recordings. This is an important memory work he has done and published on many CDs. This radio show is like a Mondo trip into the jungle, with funeral rites in the background. From Tanzania to Libia or Laos, you can pack your bags for a real ritualistic moment!

DF n°73, Interview with GEINS'T NAÏT, December 8th, 2008

Another interview we found back in our archives with French industrial band Geins't Naït. The interview was done at three o'clock in the morning after the show they gave at la Maison des Metallos in Paris during the Etrange Musique festival on October 11th, 2008. We started the interview with Vincent Hachet, then the other members of the band, like Laurent Petitgand and Thierry Merigout, arrived as they were all leaving the venue. A very lively moment.

DF n°72, Interview with HOROLOGIUM, November 24th, 2008

In September 2008, we went to the Mediterranean Autumn Festival organized by David from La Esencia in Barcelona. It was the opportunity for us to meet some artists of the post-industrial scene, such as Horologium, the project from Grzegorz Siedlecki from Poland. We have often played his music so we wanted to see what it looked like on stage. Unfortunately, we got lost in the city and we arrived too late for his concert. We were quite disappointed but we talked with him anyway about his work.

Here's the playlist of this show:

DF n°71, Interview with HERMANN KOPP, November 10th, 2008

Hermann Kopp corresponds to our definition of the real artist, with a visionary strength and a very personal approach. Since his minimal electro classics Aquaplaning in Venedig and Pop in the very early eighties, and his soundtracks for Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2 and Der Todesking by Jörg Buttgereit, his violin-playing has just haunted our minds. We have met him in Barcelona as he had just released one of his masterpieces, Under a Demon's Mask on Galakthorrö. This is quite an extensive interview, and it was a great moment for us. We are still in touch with the artist, who is a very humble, interesting and kind person. You can only like him instantly. And we asked him to participate in our commemorative compilation-CD, Icy Breath on Burning Flesh, for which he created a fascinating piece inspired by Rimbaud's "Le Bal des Pendus". If you enjoy his universe, we played his music for three hours. Recommended for Kopp addicts!

DF n°70, Interview with ABSOLUTE BODY CONTROL, October 27th, 2008

This show was minimal synth-oriented with the kings of the genre, Absolute Body Control. We met them in Paris at a moment when they had just reformed. What is funny is that I think we had discovered the reverb function on the mixing table, so there are ridiculous echo effects on our voices at the beginning of the show.

Here's the playlist:

ASMUS TIETCHENS, Regenwald
PERPLEXIONS, You can live the real you

DF n°62, Tribute to Eurociné, July 7th, 2008

During this show, we decided to focus on the film company Eurociné. It was also the opportunity to explore French B-movies and some of their soundtracks, notably those by Daniel J. White among others. Eurociné is mainly associated to genre cinema, notably the films of Jess Franco. They released all kinds of genre films : women in prison, nazisploitation, cannibal movies, etc. We invited our friend Christophe, a collector of all these weird movies and soundtracks. This radio show was thus a tribute to this deviant, strange, cheap and cult cinema.

DF n°58, Interview with LAIBACH, May 12th, 2008

On March 27th, 2008, the great industrial band Laibach came to play in Toulouse at the Havana Club, a venue that does not exist anymore. The concert was very impressive with a mixture of songs taken from Volk and WAT. We met Ivan Novak from the band at that moment and he offered us an extensive and very interesting interview. This is thus a very symphonic and martial show, in the company of this very charming man. The first minutes and the end of the show are missing. But if you like Laibach or want to know more about them, this is quite a nice moment!

Here are some of the songs we played :
GAE BOLG & THE CHURCH OF FAND, Larmes de Sang
IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES, Sacred Worms
DEATH IN JUNE, Kapitulation
DER BLUTHARSCH, Untitled
LAIBACH, Now you will pay, Vier Personen, Anglia, Kinderreich, Yisrael, Tanz mit Laibach, Herz-Felde, Entarte Welte, Turkiye
SHINING VRIL, The stark burns out
IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES, Beauty and bleeding
NON, Between Venus and Mars
TEST DEPT & SOUTH WALES CHOIR, Gdansk
ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO, El Acero del Partido (excerpt)
XX COMMITTEE, Slaughterhouse
RAISON D'ETRE, In Extremis
NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS, Shan't do that/Violence is Love
