It sometimes
happens but I do not remember at all when this radio show had taken place but
it was approximately either in August or September 2007. What I know for sure
is that the interview with Romain Slocombe was held in March 2007 and was later
published in Timeless Magazine. I don’t remember neither all the music that we
programmed, but it was really great, we focused on crazy Japanese-like music
mixed with songs by Ground Zero, Boris Kovak, Toshiro Mayuzumi, People Like Us,
DDAA, Superstrings, Throbbing Gristle, Ikue Mori, Hint, Gorgonzola Legs, Norma
Loy, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Esplendor Geometrico or Graeme Revell. The show started
and ended with Buddhist mantras and it was dedicated to the theme of Japanese
dolls and prosthetic art, in the company of the great master of these
questions, the writer and photographer, Romain Slocombe. We read excerpts from
some of his books like Brume de Printemps,
Saké de Brume or La
Japonaise de St
John’s Wood. The general atmosphere of it all is quite surrealistic. The
interview was done in a gallery with a church-like reverb, and there’s
traditional Japanese music playing in the background. Very strange.
Interview with ROMAIN SLOCOMBE, September 2007
Interview with THE DEAD BROTHERS, April 2007
Back in 2007. On
March 31st, we met the guys from the Swiss band The Dead Brothers just before
they played in a bar called Chez Pierre in Toulouse . The interview was made in their own
car and it was totally improvised since I learned about this show at the last
minute. However, I remember that the day after, they did an amazing show in a
kind of circus decor just outside of the city, inside a big top. People just
went crazy, and I discovered the trance-like aspect of their sound. It was very
different from the melancholy atmosphere of an album like, let's say, Wunderkammer.
The interview was broadcasted in April. The sound is not very good but it
remains a nice souvenir anyway, since after that, the band stopped for a while
and the line-up changed completely. Here I was with Pierre Omer and Christoph
Gantert.
The other songs,
apart from The Dead Brothers, are by Idiot Saint-Crazy, Duet Emmo and Ghédalia
Tazartes.
DF n°34, Interview with JEAN-LOUIS COSTES, November 27th, 2006
Here is a very
special and funny moment. On Monday 27th, 2006, the French performer and
musician Jean-Louis Costes played in a big venue named Le Ramier, in Toulouse,
very close to our radio studios. After the show, I invited Jean-Louis to join
us at the radio station. It was around 3 or 4 in the morning when we did
this interview. He even sang some excerpts from his show Les petits oiseaux chient live in the studio, in the company of
Lisou Prout. Many friends were there too, and everything was improvised. It was
chaotic and very intimate at the same time. Jean-Louis talked about his dreams,
his fears, and the conversation went quite far. Then we went to sleep at my
apartment, where Jean-Louis and Lisou were staying, and I think that the sun
was already there when we fell asleep.
DF n°33, Interview with NEPTUNE, November 13th, 2006
On November 12,
2006, we met the American band Neptune for the first time as they were playing
live in Toulouse
in a wonderful venue named Le Clandé, a former brothel from the early XXth
century. In fact, I discovered the band on that same day. Since then, we have
met them several times, and we saw them play more than a dozen times. They are
an amazing band on stage.
At the beginning
of the show, we played songs by Borghesia, Laibach, Macrocoma, Ambiance
Anonyme, Nightmare Lodge and MKB. And we played several songs from Patterns,
which was their latest album at the time.

15. Human Flesh : Epilogue
Romaric Sangars, Chronic’Art
Romaric Sangars, Chronic’Art
Wilfried Paris, Chronic’Art

DF n°10, Interview with TRISOMIE 21, June 2nd, 2005
No need to
introduce Trisomie 21. They have been a very important reference in France in the
field of electronic music and "cold wave" sound. We are part of this
generation who grew up listening to Passions
Divisées, Wait and Dance or Million Lights, so it was a great honour
when Hervé Lomprez accepted to come to our radio show. I was sick at that
moment, so my voice is really strange. It seems that I am quite sad and on the
verge of crying, but I was really happy to meet my teenage years heroes. They
brought some records with them, as remixes of their Happy Mystery Child album were to come out, but I only found the
first part of the show with the entire interview. Nevertheless, we learn a lot
of things so if you like this band, you will enjoy it, for sure.
DF n°8, Interviews with VOX POPULI! / GITANJALI & VON MAGNET, April 7th, 2005
Here are two interviews with cult French bands Vox Populi! and Von Magnet, taken directly form our archives. The interview with Axel and Mithra Kyrou from Vox Populi! revolved around their new work under the name Gitanjali. The interview with Phil Von from Von Magnet dealt mainly with the album they had just released at the time, De l'Aimant.
