DF n°111, Live with CATHALE & CLONE, June 21st, 2010

This show was held during the Fête de la Musique in France. We received two local artists: Clone, who produces a minimal drone ambient music, and Cathale. The music of this woman is very shamanic and primitive, out-of-time and ancestral at the same time, with the voice as the central medium. Both musicians came with their strange instrument, and at the end of the show, they even improvised music together. On the spot. They did not know each other before this show. So it was really improvised, and there was a magic atmosphere during this show.

DF n°109, Interviews with HINT & LES HORLOGISTES, May 10th, 2010

We have a special story with the Band HINT. We are the same age. We saw one of their very first concerts and we watched them grow. So it was a real pleasure to meet them and talk about those golden 90s when they produced their unique mixture of noise rock, ambient, free jazz, metal industrial and cinematic atmospheres. During this show, we also received in the studios the experimental/minimalist band LES HORLOGISTES as they were going to perform in our city. A friendly moment.

DF n°106, Interview with CHRISTOPHE LORENTZ, March 15th, 2010

This show can be divided into two parts. In the first one, we had a phone call from Christophe Lorentz, who wrote in the company of Sophie Noël the book Charles Manson : le gourou du rock. The authors focused on the impact that this figure had on popular music culture, and it is quite disturbing to see the hundreds of bands (especially in the industrial music genre) who have been influenced in some ways or another by the sordid stories and fantasies revolving around this character. We listened to a lot of the artists that do appear in the book. In the second part, we talked about the cinema of Pietro Germi, an important Italian film-maker, who is not so well-known by now but who directed some masterpieces.

DF n°104, Interview with JULIA KENT, February 15th, 2010

We met Julia Kent as she came at the Bus Palladium in Paris to present her first album. Alone with her cello, she achieves a very enveloping, emotional music thanks to loops, delay effects and a very varied approach to her instrument. Of course, she is no newcomer since she has played with so many fantastic artists for so many years. Among them, Anthony & The Johnsons, Angels of Light or Jarboe. It was a pleasure to evoke all this with her and to talk about her first release that was inspired by airports and the transitional spaces they evoke.  Then we came back in time to explore the comic strip universe of Jean Image as his classic film "Jeannot l'Intrépide" was re-issued.

DF n°102, Interview with SOL INVICTUS, January 18th, 2010

We went to see Sol Invictus play live in Marseille in November 2009 and we came back with this interview with Tony Wakeford. The new album had not come out yet, but they played a lot of songs that were to be found on The Cruellest Month, along with older songs such as "Lex Talionis". The interview was held at the venue with shitty music in the background played very loud, so it seems that we are screaming at each other. And it was the case, indeed.

Here's the playlist:

KARL MEIZTER, The Process
JULIA KENT, Gardermoen
DENIS FRAJERMAN, Rivières de la nuit
DRAHOMIRA SONG ORCHESTRA, This famous somewhere
INADE, Genius Loci 3
SOL INVICTUS/Tony Wakeford collaborations – They rise to war, Lucifer before Sunrise, Black Easter, Michael, 5, Wolf age axe age, The thrill is gone, Lex Talionis, The last train, Thrones, O Death come close my eyes, Death's head, 6, From the wreckage, Raven chorus, La croix, Oh whistle and I'll come to you, The cruellest Month (bootleg), In hell's mouth
FRANCE SAUVAGE, Cartilage Ihyroïde
SUSUMU YOKOTA, Distant sounds of summer
ANTLERS MULM, Shattered Pearl

The Douche Froide compilation

In 2010, eight years after the beginning of our activities, we decided to release a celebratory compilation named Icy breath on burning flesh. This CD contains unreleased songs by 14 international artists of the dark ambient/experimental/post-industrial scene. We have chosen them because they are linked to the history of our radio show and association. We organized concerts with some of them (France Sauvage, Denis Frajerman), we worked on literary projects with some others (De Mange Machine), or we did special radio shows with their music and interviews (Drahomira Song Orchestra, Hermann Kopp, Ilitch, Nihiltronix). Of course, we have loved their music for quite some time and it was the opportunity to work with some of our music heroes, such as David Oliphant from cult bands Maybe Mental and Life Garden. So we released these lovely silk-screen printed objects which were received quite enthusiastically.
They are still available for 15 euros + postage. You just have to write to :
achud.malax@gmail.com

Here is the tracklisting:

1. DRAHOMIRA SONG ORCHESTRA "This Famous Somewhere"
2. DAWN AND DUSK ENTWINED "Heading towards the West (2006 version)"
3. BEYOND SENSORY EXPERIENCE "H-Spell"
4. QUATTROPHAGE "Youch"
5. HERMANN KOPP "Ball der Gehenkten"
6. LES HAUTS DE PLAFOND "Die Katze essen"
8. DENIS FRAJERMAN "Rivières de la nuit"
9. DAVID OLIPHANT "Eyes sewn shut"
10. NIHILTRONIX "Only Pain reminds"
11. FRANCE SAUVAGE "Kevin"
12. NATURE MORTE "Affaibli"
13. VLADIMIR HIRSCH "Exégète 2"
14. ILITCH "Le sofa rouge"

We met William Faith as his band played at Le Crock More in Perpignan for a very memorable show.
